Beth Ditto debuts clothing line online and at Selfridges

Singer and style icon Beth Ditto has unveiled her new collection which launches today at Bethditto.com and at Selfridges. Campaign imagery for the collection, which celebrates beauty in all sizes, was styled by Katie Grand, shot by Ezra Petronio, and stars plus size models Barbie Ferreria and Philomena Kwao.

The "New York City-sewn" collection celebrates Ditto's "fearless fashion journey", from Arkansas punk-rocker altering thrift store finds to fashion icon in her own right. Ditto recently appeared on the catwalk and in campaigns for Marc Jacobs. She announced the launch of her own collection last December with with a T-shirt designed by her friend Jean-Paul Gaultier.

The 11-piece collection be available in US sizes 14-28 (UK sizes 18-32) and features op-art prints realised in silks and rayons, silver lamé club looks and vintage-detail dresses and tailored pencil skirts. Ultra-soft leggings, silk bubble dresses, and hand-embroidered, vintage sourced denim jackets "represent a commitment to quality and craft rarely seen in plus size fashion".

“I wanted to make pieces to last years. Beyond trends, beyond chain stores. I wanted to create something all its own, something just for us, made with love and consideration," said Ditto. "Made ethically in the USA as a small company with no big corporate input. Uncompromising, unapologetic, and timeless. Go-to pieces designed to last. A movement by us, for us."
