Fashion honours: Damehood for Natalie Massenet, CBE for Jacqueline Gold and MBE for Alison Lewy

Fashion received three nods in the latest New Year's Honours list published yesterday.

Net-a-Porter founder and chair of the British Fashion Council Natalie Massenet was made a Dame, having received the MBE in 2009. Massenet, who left the company she founded 15 years ago in September following its merger with Italian group Yoox, told the Daily Telegraph she was "thrilled and completely overwhelmed" to receive the honour.

Massenet holds dual British and American nationality and so is able to use the title Dame.

Also recognised in the list was retail and lingerie entrepreneur Jacqueline Gold, CEO of Ann Summers, who received a CBE (one step down from a Damehood) for services to entrepreneurship, women in business and social enterprise.

Finally Alison Lewy, founder of fashion mentoring and networking service Fashion Angel, which supports designers in establishing their own business, was awarded and MBE for services to fashion.
