Firefighters are currently battling a blaze at the Belfast branch of value fashion chain Primark. It is reported that 11 fire crew are tackling the fire on the fifth floor of the Bank Buildings on the city's Castle Street.

Video reports on social media show the roof of the building engulfed by flames and shoppers and staff have been evacuated from the store and neighbouring buildings with the emergency services advising shoppers to avoid the area.

The buildings, which were designed by Sir Robert Taylor and built by Waddell Cunningham in 1785 have been undergoing refurbishment lately. Primark had been intending to extend the store by 30,000 sq ft, according to recent reports.
