Former M&S digital chief joins John Lewis board

08 September 2017

Laura Wade-Gery, the former executive director of multichannel at Marks & Spencer,  has joined the board of John Lewis as non-executive director.

Wade-Gery left her role at M&S a year ago when she decided not to return from a year-long maternity leave; while she had been on leave Steve Rowe had been appointed as CEO of M&S taking over from Marc Bolland, who had encouraged Wade-Gery to join the business from Tesco in 2011.

In a statement when she stood down, Wade-Gery said her leave period had "seen some significant changes in both my personal life and in the business. I concluded that the time was right to move on from M&S.”

John Lewis chairman Sir Charlie Mayfield said of her appointment: "I am pleased to announce the appointment of Laura Wade-Gery who brings a wealth of experience in business and retailing. She will build on the strength and depth of the John Lewis Partnership Board."

Wade-Gery is also a non executive director of the board of British Land and a member of the Government's Digital Advisory Board.
