H&M launches sustainable activewear line

H&M has revealed its new women's activewear line, which is made from sustainable materials.

Based around the theme of "in it for the long run", the Conscious sport collection includes a range of tights, sports bras, hoodies and tops for training, running and yoga.

The theme of sustainability is reflected in the prints and colour palette of green tones, black and beige and each piece features a predominant use of recycled polyester and elastane as part of the fashion retail giant's push towards creating a 100% circular business, where old clothes are recycled into new designs.

"By bringing together the functional and feminine, the aim is to give customers a stylish, conscious sports collection. And not just through the fabrics – we utilised a new knitting technique that creates seamless garments while using less yarn or fabric waste. Blending function with sustainable thinking and fashion in this way is the way forward," said head designer of sportswear Pedra Smeds.

The collection is available in select stores globally and will launch at hm.com on 4 January.
