Joe Browns reports strong growth and makes key appointments

Multichannel fashion brand Joe Browns has reported a 25% growth in sales in the first two months of its new financial year and has made a number of key appointments to support its growth plans.

The 25% growth comes on the back of 12% growth in the previous financial year and the business said wholesale had performed particularly well (up 40%) and its first move into physical retail with a store in Sheffield's Meadowhall had also contributed its uplift in sales.

To further its growth the business is planning to expand its product ranges and has appointed six new senior members of staff. Among the new appointments is Andrew Thomson, former Brand Director EMEA at Original Penguin, who will be its new head of wholesale.

In his new role Thomson will be spearheading UK and international growth as well as progressing Joe Browns’ menswear and licensing divisions.

Also Fiona Brown, former Global Digital Marketing Manager at GHD, will join the business in early October as Head of E-Commerce and new in-house positions have been created and filled for a Senior Analyst, Designer, Ladieswear Buyer and Retail Floor Manager.

Founder and managing director Simon Brown said further positions will be created in the company in its marketing and creative teams. “As everyone knows it’s pretty tough out there. It’s never been more important to offer remarkable product and to do this we need some remarkable people,” he said.

The business has also secured planning permission to double its warehouse capacity to cope with increasing demand.
