Liberty launches print design competition

Liberty is set to run a competition in partnership with London Design Week to give participants the chance to create its next new print.

The historic department store, which is known for its iconic prints and holds 45,000 designs in its archive, is launching an open call on Instagram, starting on 15 September.

Participants can upload their designs using the hashtag #LibertyOpenCall and entries will be accepted across a variety of mediums from patchwork to photography, to oil paint, needlework and collage.

The 140-year-old store is keeping an open mind about the format and says it is just interested in finding a "truly unique design".

The winning design will be printed onto Liberty's Tana Lawn cotton and available to purchase in store and online.
