New Asos CEO announces sales up 17%
Just one month after founder Nick Robertson stood down from the business, young fashion etailer Asos has annouced a 17% rise in global sales to £1.12bn.
Robertson's successor Nick Beighton said the results has been helped by a strong performance in the UK, which increased sales by 27% to £474m to the year ending August 2015. Profits nudged up 1% to £47.5m, just ahead of analysts's forecasts.
Beighton added that he expected a 20% rise in sales in the next financial year. "We remain focused on achieving our next staging post of £2.5bn sales," said Beighton who stepped up from the role of chief operating officer to CEO upon Robertson's departure.
The encouraging results come off the back of a tough 2014 when Asos issued three profit warnings - largely down to its international pricing strategy - and suffered a fire at a distribution centre.
