Oliver Bonas unveils ambition to open eight more stores

Fashion and lifestyle chain Oliver Bonas has revealed plans to open eight more stores, creating 80 new jobs and taking its store-count to 85.

The expansion, which is being supported by a £15m revolving credit facility from HSBC, begins with the opening of a new store at Gatwick North Terminal.

Oliver Bonas said the expansion was planned, despite the growing turmoil on the high street, due to demand for its products in new areas of the UK, and it follows on from successful openings in Harborne in Birmingham, Exeter and centre:mk in Milton Keynes.

"Whilst trade on the high street has been challenging, Oliver Bonas continues to grow. We have stuck to the core principle that makes our lifestyle offer unique: doing our little bit to make living a joyful experience. For us, this means best in-class customer service, a welcoming and inspiring experience in store and online and a highly curated homeware and fashion collection, all designed in house in our Oliver Bonas Studio," said the chain's founder and managing director Oliver Tress.

James Sawley, head of retail and leisure UK corporate banking, at HSBC, added: “While the negative narrative surrounding the retail space continues, we’re thrilled to be able to support a company that proves there is still potential in bricks and mortar retail.”

The company said it would also be using the credit facility to invest in its in-house design team and new products.
