Own The Look launches crowdfunding campaign

Fledgling multibrand etailer Own The Look has launched a crowdfunding campaign with Crowdcube and is looking to raise a minimum of £175,000 to accelerate its growth.

Launched in March of last year by co-founder and fashion stylist and editor Olivia Cantillon, the site's USP is its ability for customers to buy an entire look in just two clicks. Prices range from £25 for a t-shirt to £350 for a leather jacket.

With a focus on European brands in the affordable luxury space with little presence in the UK, each look presented on the site is put together by a team of stylists and includes tips on how to wear each item and what works and doesn't work with a particular body shape.

As part of the Crowdcube campaign, which runs for the next 29 days, Own The Look, which has a pre-money valuation of £825,000, plans to sacrifice 17.5% of its equity for £175,000 and this would rise to 25% if it reaches its upper target of £250,000. At the time of writing the business had already raised £72,000.

Cantillon said social media was a cornerstone of the business's growth strategy. "We’re constantly reminded how socially savvy and digitally driven our girl is. In such a fast-paced landscape we need to ensure we’re engaging and touching our consumer where she spends most of her time, her social channels.

"Using a mix of influencers, affiliates, celebrity and social advertising, we’re able to do this and we’ve seen consistent growth across our  social channels from doing so. Growing our online and digital presence – this is our focus,” she said.
