Sézane to open London store following successful pop-up trial

French online fashion brand Sézane has signed for a permanent London store following the success of its pop-up on South Molton Street which it ran before Christmas.

The womenswear brand, which was founded in 2013 by Morgane Sézalory, has taken a 10-year lease on two-floor 2,061 sq ft unit at 103 Westbourne Grove, Notting Hill.

Ben Clark of KLM Retail advised on the deal said the store was "great news for London". ”This is a major step forward in the brand’s growth and I am sure they will continue to go from strength to strength,” he added.

Sézane, whose success is largely built on social media and its seasonless strategy (collections are dropped every month with restocks and new items dropped in limited quantities on a weekly basis), has an "Appartement" showroom/store on Rue Saint Fiacre in Paris and a concession in Le Bon Marché department store on the Left Bank.

It also operates a "Conciergerie" click and collect point on Rue des Jeuneurs, Paris, while last year it opened a permanent store in New York. In its new home of Westbourne Grove, Sézane will be neighbours with a number of other French brands including Sandro, American Vintage and Maje.

Sézane also has a menswear brand called Octobre Editions, which operates an "Atlelier" on Rue des Uzes in Paris but does not yet ship globally.

The Industry interviewed Morgane Sézalory when the brand launched its UK website in 2015. Read the feature here.
