Stüssy to open its first store in the UK in almost 10 years

Streetwear brand Stüssy is opening its first physical store in the UK in almost a decade at 115 Wardour Street in London's Soho.

The cult brand, which was founded by surfboard manufacturer Shawn Stüssy in California in 1980, closed its previous London store in Covent Garden in 2009 and since then has only been sold in the UK via third party retailers.

The brand, which is referring to the store as its "London Chapter" (it has 16 stores or Chapters around the world), has been teasing its arrival in the heart of Soho on 31 August via a series of Instagram posts, showing a giant pool ball rolling past London landmarks including Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus and a tube line.

Shawn Stüssy sold his share in the company to his business partner Frank Sinatra Jr (no relation to the singer of the same name) in 1996 and the Sinatra family still own the business. Its new London store will be a stone's throw away from fellow cult US streetwear label Supreme, whose store is never without a queue of "hypebeasts" outside waiting to get their hands on one of its latest limited edition pieces.
