The Baukjen Group, which includes the digital-native Baukjen premium womenswear brand and the Isabella Oliver maternity brand, has announced a £400,000 crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube.

It says it is raising the money to aid expansion in the US for the Baukjen brand and to develop a physical presence via concessions and pop-ups.

In the past two years the company says it has grown by 26% and now has in the last financial year had sales of £18m, with a net revenue of £10.7m and a £471k EBITDA.

The group was founded with the Isabella Oliver maternity brand 15 years ago with Baukjen added in 2012, giving the group an opportunity to engage with women outside of the maternity period. It now has a team of 48 and sells to 172 countries, with stockists including John Lewis, Next Label, and Nordstrom in the US.

With 28 days left to run on its month-long campaign at the time of writing, the group had already raised around £136,000.

Baukjen de Swaan Arons, founder and creative director, said: “We are a brand that puts our customer at the heart of everything we do, so crowdfunding seemed like the right fit for our business. We’re excited to be democratising this round of investment and opening the opportunity up to our customers, and everyone who believes in our vision, to own shares in our business”.
