Japanese fashion chain Uniqlo has today announced plans to open a new 22,690 sq ft store on Market Street in Manchester city centre in the spring.

With a total sales floor of 14,747 sq ft, the new store will offer the retailer’s full range of men’s, women’s and childrenswear, including the company’s signature "Heattech" and "Ultra Light Down" products, along with cashmere pieces, jeans and T-shirts. There will also be significant full-time and part-time employment opportunities created by the arrival.

Taku Morikawa, Chief Executive Officer of Uniqlo EU, said: “The launch of Uniqlo in Manchester represents another major milestone for us in the UK, as we continue to expand our presence in this important market. We are very excited to be able to offer Uniqlo ‘LifeWear’ to the people of Manchester and surrounding areas for the first time.”

Since opening its first store in Japan in 1984, Uniqlo has grown to become an international leader with over 2,000 stores in 21 markets worldwide. In 2016 the transformation of the retailer’s flagship store on London’s Oxford Street expanded the space from three floors to five, almost doubling the size of the original space, and totalling an impressive 24,111 sq ft. A new conceptual sales area was created within the store where Uniqlo’s "LifeWear" philosophy was brought to life, whilst a newly built roof terrace gives shoppers views across London and also plays host to exclusive events.

Uniqlo is a brand of Fast Retailing Co, a leading Japanese retail holding company with global headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. It is the largest of six main brands in the Fast Retailing Group, the others being GU, J Brand, Theory, Comptoir des Cotonniers, and Princesse tam.tam.
